Deep in the heart of Texas, the city of San Antonio is best known for its historic Alamo, beautiful River Walk, and basketball’s most vaunted franchise, the Spurs. The food scene is dominated with epic barbeque joints and some of the best Tex-Mex you will find. With huge portions and eclectic flavours, the traditional local food is delicious and indulgent.

After years living in southern California, Manny and Angie Carral decided to move back to their home state of Texas. They realized that there was a need in San Antonio to create a spot that served healthy, nutritious food options – the types of places that they regularly frequented in California. Four years ago, they opened Revolucion Coffee + Juice, focused on producing cold-pressed juices in the beautiful Alamo Heights district of San Antonio.

Sales of healthy, fresh juices boomed, and after a few years, Revolucion outgrew its small space. In 2016 Revolucion moved into a beautiful 4,500 square foot space. Revolucion also makes an assortment of “Not Milks” including almond and cashew milks and adventurous Golden Milk (Almond, Vanilla, Cinnamon, & Turmeric). There are always fresh healthy options on the food menu, including a large assortment of Tex-Mex inspired breakfast tacos and tamales, and their famous Açaí bowls.

When moving to the new space, the Carrals upgraded their coffee program, and built a beautiful espresso bar equipped with a La Marzocco GS5 and Nuova Simonelli Mythos grinder. They also hired the dynamic local coffee guru Anjela Daugherty to lead their revamped coffee program.

Phil & Sebastian has been proudly supplying coffee to Revolucion for over a year. P&S’s wholesale leader, Rob Oppenheim, got a chance to visit Revolucion for a few days in March 2017, and spent some time with the whole team. He was impressed! The coffee program is top notch, with expert baristas crafting traditional espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes. There are always delicious single-origin options on their v60 pour-over bar. In addition, Anjela has created some delicious signature drinks using local ingredients, including the now-famous honey lavender latte.
