Cherry

Join us for a truly one-of-a-kind evening, celebrating coffee’s nuanced journey from fruit to fruition, seed to cup. It’s a story 20,000 miles in the making, happening one night only right here in Calgary.

For the first time ever in Canada, we’ll be hosting a live processing of coffee fruit. You’ll get a rare glimpse at how decisions made by expert coffee producers effect the finished product, focusing on the distinctive and delicious coffees of Costa Rican producer ENRIQUE NAVARRO JR.

A 2014 Cup of Excellence winner and friend of Phil & Sebastian, Mr. Navarro Jr. will be on hand for the event, sharing his expertise and giving us an up close look at what it takes to produce some of the world’s finest coffee.

We’re also excited to bring the 2014 World Barista Champion all the way from Japan. HIDENORI “HIDE” IZAKI will perform his 2014 winning routine for a panel of local celebrity chef judges. Hide will also make drinks for several lucky guests.

If winning the 2014 Costa Rica Cup of Excellence was not enough, Hide used Enrique’s coffee for his 2014 WBC win, making it an exceptional year for the Navarro’s.

Visiting alongside Enrique is Francisco Mena of Exclusive Coffees. Exclusive is facilitating the procurement and transport of the cherry from Monte Copey. Exclusive Coffees is our exporting partner in Costa Rica, and they have revolutionized the Costa Rican coffee scene.

Expect to taste some coffees from Enrique’s farm, watch the world’s best in action, and enjoy some wines courtesy of Highlander and some beer thanks to Tool Shed. You will also have a chance to bid to taste some coffee cherry and some drinks made by the world’s best.

The event is free of charge and all proceeds will go to the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST); an organization that supports people in developing countries who lack access to clean water and sanitation.

There will be door prizes and an auction for a chance to taste one of Hide’s limited signature drinks with all proceeds going to CAWST.

Music will be provided by Kinfolk DJs.

Must be 18 years or older to attend this event.
